Running With Buffalo
ORDER A PRINTAbout this artwork
In a storm of fog, dust, rocks, and steam, an indian on horseback leads a team of Buffalo thundering across the grassy plain.
This is the next work in my Western Art series. It was most definitely inspired by the paintings of Fredrick Remington. If you google him, you'll acutally find a number of images with stampeding horses in a line charging at the viewer.
I actually based the composition on an eye. If you draw a line from one edge to the other along the heads of the bison and the Indian, then a second line along the hoofs, you get a rough shape of an eye where the man on horseback is the pupil. The idea is to give the viewer a sense that the picture is looking back at them. I've done similar images using the "eye" concept before with "The Buffalo Vanguard" ( http://daniel-eskridge.artistwebsites.com/featured/the-buffalo-vanguard-daniel-eskridge.html ) and "Thunder on the Plains" ( http://daniel-eskridge.artistwebsites.com/featured/thunder-on-the-plains-daniel-eskridge.html ), but this one emphasizes it a bit more.
