About This Work
An angry tiger emerges from the foliage and a jungle and bears its teeth in an angry snarl. From the artist:
Ahead of my first summer show of 2026, I realized had no works featuring tigers ready. So I decided to create a new one. This one is unique in that I was experimenting with a new surface: a streched linen canvas specially coated with a pastel ground. I wanted to know if it worked as I was considering makeing some very large works and my usual go-tos of sanded paper and pastelbord tend to have a maximum size available of around 25×36 inches. I liked linen pretty well but really fine details where challenging (pehaps less of an issue if I was doing it something much larger and a 16×20.
This work took third place in “Genesis XXXII” a juried art competition held by the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance in Atlanta.
