Running Free

A powerful chestnut horse gallops across a wildflower-covered hillside as the rising sun illuminates the clouds and outlines its windswept form.

About the Artwork

Running Free

A chestnut thoroughbred gallops freely across rolling hills covered with grass and wildflowers. Its mane and tail stream behind it as the horse lifts its forelegs and surges forward beneath a dramatic morning sky.

The rising sun glows behind towering clouds, casting warm light across the landscape and creating a luminous outline around the horse. Three white socks, a white star, and a narrow facial stripe stand out against its rich brown coat.

Running Free was inspired by the legendary racehorse Secretariat. The horse’s coloring recalls the famous champion, while its energetic pose was influenced by the statue at Secretariat’s memorial. The artwork celebrates speed, freedom, equine strength, and the exhilaration of a horse in motion.
